About the Coaches
Darlene Coquerel
Darlene Coquerel is a Broker at Key Property Services since 2009 in Atlanta, Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Tennessee. She has transacted over 5,000 residential properties since 2010. She is a Qualifying Broker and Manager of a network of brokers in several states, overseeing Acquisition and Sales; foreclosures; trustee auctions; online auctions, MLS, and wholesale properties; as well as renovation and turnkey properties.
Darlene’s specialties include 25+ years’ experience in buying, selling and managing real estate; expertise in all phases of foreclosures and pre-foreclosures; buying at courthouse auctions, REOs, HUD foreclosures and online auction acquisitions; marketing and negotiating; and is a national trainer for beginner, intermediate and advanced Real Estate Investors.
Darlene has been a member of Georgia Real Estate Investors Association (GaREIA) since 1992. She is a long time active volunteer and former Board member of the Association. She is an instructor in the GaREIA Boot Camp, leads the REI Strategies / Deal Structuring Subgroup on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at GaREIA, and is a coach in the GaREIA Yellow Letter Marketing Coaching Program.
Curt Smith
25 year career as a software engineer, now with ATT downtown.
4 years ago I saw the drop in the housing market just as I was thinking "how will I live in retirement?"
I started reading books off Amazon on how to get started in real estate, some by Wendy Patton, a good person and early book author.
Then I met a GaREIA board member, Brad Popp, on line via a site he was advertising a wholesale on. I contacted Brad and, as everyone at GaREIA is, he was extremely helpful and helped me get started buying my first buy-fix-rent in Norcross.
Brad continued to help me get started by encouraging me and my wife to join GaREIA and get involved taking training and buying some speakers systems
Some 2 years later our real estate company now has 13 rentals or owner financed deals cash flowing in our IRAs and LLC.
In 2013 we did 4 rental buy and fixes, in 2014 we are finishing 2 more, both heading into rent-to-own then owner financing.
What being a member of the GaREIA Board of Directors has done for me:
Being on the GaREIA Board has been a great experience meeting more of the Atlanta real estate movers and shakers.
I have met GaREIA wholesalers and bought their properties that I would not have met if I was not very active.
Helping other investors forces my wife and I to think more clearly and be precise with good advice for new folks.
