Hiking at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve
Please join us for a moderately easy hike though the beautiful McDowell Sonoran Preserve, a beautiful and massive area of desert and mountains in North Scottsdale.
We will limit our adventure to approximately 5 or 6 miles, and about 2.5 hours, starting on the Lost Dog Wash trail, intersecting with the Old Jeep Trail, and then completing our loop on the Ringtail Trail.
When we say moderately easy, we mean that it is tougher than a walk around the park (or the average shopping mall. :-) It is not paved, and while there are no steep climbs or major changes in elevation, it does go up and down some gentle hills and through some dry desert washes along the way.
(If there are a few people in the group who want to make this a longer, more difficult hike, they have the option of continuing further down the trail before turning around and heading back)
We will meet at 10:00 AM in front of the meeting location listed below. At 10:15 AM sharp we leave to carpool to the trailhead (about 5 or 6 miles away) so please do not be late.
After the hike, we will finish our adventure at one of North Scottsdale’s fine establishments for fun, food, drink, and more great conversation among friends.
***Please remember to wear good hiking shoes, and to bring plenty of water and snacks for this hike. Our activity coordinator/hike leader has the right to turn people away from a hike if they are not properly prepared, for their safety and for the safety of the group.*** |
